Wallace Signs Contract Extension

Bubba Wallace has inked a multiyear extension with 23XI Racing, the team announced on Wednesday. Wallace, who has two career wins in the NASCAR Cup Series, will continue piloting the No. 23 Toyota for the team. The Alabama-born driver is currently in his seventh full-time Cup season and his fourth with 23XI.

At 30 years old, Wallace became the first driver signed by team co-owners Denny Hamlin and NBA icon Michael Jordan, who ventured into motorsports ownership after being a longtime fan. Wallace secured the team’s first victory at Talladega Superspeedway in 2021 and followed it up with another win at Kansas Speedway the next year.

As of this week’s upcoming race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Wallace holds 19th place in the series standings. So far in the 2024 season, he has earned five top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes in 28 races, with an average starting position of 14.3 and an average finish of 16.3.

Although Wallace went winless last season, it marked a breakthrough year for him. In 2023, he posted his best overall performance, advancing to the NASCAR Playoffs for the first time and finishing 10th in the final standings.

In addition to his success in the Cup Series, Wallace boasts six wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and six victories in ARCA East, where he finished second in the 2011 championship standings.
