Logano Survives Texas Chaos for First Win of 2025

Sunday’s Wurth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway turned into a war of attrition, but Joey Logano emerged with his first win of the 2025 season after a wreck-filled final stage and an overtime dash to the checkers.

Polesitter Carson Hocevar and William Byron led the field to green, but early drama unfolded on Lap 21 when Noah Gragson spun while trying to pass Daniel Suarez. Denny Hamlin briefly inherited the lead after staying out under caution, but a miscommunication sent him to pit road late, handing the top spot to Austin Cindric. Cindric held off challenges from Josh Berry and Chris Buescher to win Stage 1.

The second stage was tamer until Lap 75, when Hamlin’s engine exploded and caught fire, ending his day. Kyle Larson went on to claim Stage 2, aided by a late caution caused by debris from Buescher’s shredded tire.

Stage 3 brought chaos. On Lap 172, contact from Logano sent Bubba Wallace spinning, collecting Gragson and triggering a multi-car pileup. Later, Jesse Love crashed during green flag pit stops, trapping key contenders a lap down.

Larson appeared in control until a flurry of cautions reshaped the field. Carson Hocevar and Ryan Preece tangled on Lap 237, followed by a Lap 247 crash involving Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Austin Cindric, and Cole Custer. Michael McDowell surged into the lead with under 25 laps to go but was ultimately passed by Logano — then crashed hard from dirty air just two laps later.

In overtime, Logano got a push from Ross Chastain and beat teammate Ryan Blaney into Turn 1. From there, he didn’t look back, securing his first win of the season in a race where survival mattered more than speed.
