Darlington Raceway has named former NASCAR Cup Series driver Greg Biffle as the Honorary Pace Car Driver for the Goodyear 400 on Sunday, April 6. A two-time Darlington winner, Biffle will lead the field to green during NASCAR’s Official Throwback Weekend.
“I’m thrilled to be the Honorary Pace Car driver for such a celebrated day in our sport, while being in the company of current and former competitors alike,” said Biffle. “To have a distinguished role in Sunday’s race and be part of Darlington’s 75th Anniversary celebration this year is a true honor.”
Biffle, a former Xfinity and Truck Series champion, was also the recipient of the 2024 Myers Brothers Award for his efforts aiding Western North Carolina communities after Hurricane Helene. He used his helicopter to deliver supplies and rescue families, raising awareness and sparking further industry support.
“Greg is one of the fiercest drivers in NASCAR history and, as shown by his tremendous generosity in giving back to the communities in the Carolinas last year, a winner off the track,” said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris.
Biffle’s NASCAR career spanned nearly two decades, with 56 national series wins, including 19 in the Cup Series. Driving the No. 16 Ford, he won back-to-back Southern 500s in 2005 and 2006—joining an elite group that includes Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon. He was named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023.
Darlington’s 75th Anniversary celebration kicks off April 5-6 with throwback paint schemes and uniforms honoring NASCAR’s rich history. The weekend features the Xfinity Series’ Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 on Saturday, followed by the Cup Series’ Goodyear 400 on Sunday.
