FORD Unveils 2024 Mustang Dark Horse

Ford is set to bring a renewed yet recognizable presence to the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series as it introduces the Mustang Dark Horse, according to an announcement made by the manufacturer.

The street version of the Dark Horse made its debut as a street car towards the end of 2022, marking the advent of the seventh generation of the Mustang lineage. The company has thoroughly embraced its Mustang legacy, anticipating the Mustang’s representation across six continents in 2024. Mark Rushbrook, the Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports, shared during a teleconference with NASCAR.com that the Mustang has been a significant icon and performer for Ford since 1964, in both road and racing capacities. He expressed that the commitment to a seventh-generation Mustang for road use directly translated into a new era of Mustangs on the racetrack.

2023 witnessed a revamp across Ford’s various racing series, extending from IMSA to Australian Supercars and more. Rushbrook highlighted NASCAR as a crucial part of Ford’s racing endeavors, emphasizing the significance of the switch from Fusion to Mustang in the Cup series back in 2019 and expressing enthusiasm for updating the Mustang in the Cup to the seventh generation, particularly with the new Dark Horse model. This, he believed, underscored the Mustang’s stature as a road car, a sports car, and a top-tier race car in NASCAR.

The Dark Horse’s new body style is slated to make its competitive debut at the Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on February 4, boasting enhancements over the 2023 Mustang.
