Denny Hamlin Undergoes Surgery

Officials from Joe Gibbs Racing announced on Wednesday that Denny Hamlin, the driver of the No. 11 Toyota, had undergone a successful shoulder surgery earlier in the day. It is anticipated that he will make a full recovery in time for the 2024 season.

JGR reported that the arthroscopic procedure, which was performed by Dr. Patrick Connor at Charlotte Surgery Center, was a success and was carried out on Hamlin’s right shoulder. Team officials also mentioned that the 43-year-old driver is expected to fully recuperate before the NASCAR Cup Series resumes with the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum exhibition race on February 4th. The team confirmed that the surgery was necessary to address a preexisting condition.

In the season finale of his “Actions Detrimental” podcast on November 7th, Hamlin discussed some of his offseason plans, stating, “He has some recovery to do physically. He needs to address some issues. It’s become a routine part of his offseason dealing with surgeries. But once he gets everything fixed, he believes he will be in better shape and ready for the 2024 season.”

It’s worth noting that Hamlin had a similar offseason procedure on his left shoulder on November 21, 2019.
