Mercedes’ George Russell got away well from his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, when the lights went out. A collision on Lap 1 between Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen saw the safety car come out early as both drivers were forced to retire from the race. The race saw a virtual safety car on Lap 53 when Lando Norris stalled in Turn 10. Russell held on through all yellow flags and pit stops, leading 66 laps while en route to his maiden Formula 1 victory.
