LAP 1: When the light went out, Charles Leclerc was immediately overtaken by P2-starter, Sergio Perez, who got a better jump off the line. Perez passed Leclerc in Turn 1 and then set sail with the lead.
VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR – LAP 9: The yellow flags were waved in the first sector when the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz experienced a hydraulic issue. Sainz pulled into the run-off area and was told to retire the car, resulting in his 3rd DNF of the season – the second for mechanical problems.
LAP 13: Sebastian Vettel had a lock-up in Turn 3 after passing the Alpine of Esteban Ocon for 10th place.
LAP 15: Max Verstappen made a clean pass on his Red Bull teammate, Perez, to take the lead.
LAP 21: Charles Leclerc dove into the pits just seconds after his Ferrari erupted in smoke with an apparent engine failure. Leclerc joined his teammate in retirement.
VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR – LAP 33: The Haas of Kevin Magnussen pulled over after suffering an engine failure and retired from the race.
CHECKERED FLAG – LAP 51: Without much of a challenge, Max Verstappen cruised to his 4th victory of the season, with Perez coming home P2. The Mercedes of George Russell also scored a podium finish in P3.
