Get to the Track with RV Share

With local hotels imposing a ridiculous markup on rooms on race weekends, fans often find it difficult to get to the track for an up close and personal view of the race and all the parties and pageantry that goes along with it.  Of course, there are cheaper alternatives to hotels, such as Airbnb and VRBO that offer rental homes and condos directly from the owners. However, these options still put you miles from the action that takes place at the track.  And wouldn’t you much rather be where like-minded race fans gather, and where you just might meet your favourite driver?

As an IndyCar or NASCAR race fan, you likely know of the special events that are hosted at the tracks on race weekends — concerts, contests, and carousing, often with the drivers involved in making the events even more special.  Daytona, Michigan Speedway, and Talladega are known for their in-field entertainment, including bands, parties, aerial acts, big screen movies, bingo, strolling performers, and plenty of things to do for the kids.  You’ve also probably heard of the drivers visiting the in-field campgrounds in order to meet the fans, such as MENCS series driver Brad Keselowski, who makes the rounds in a golf cart while handing out #2 Ford merchandise and samples of Miller Lite beer from his sponsor.  Joe Gibbs driver Kyle Busch has also been known to mix and mingle with campers, and Ryan Blaney and Chase Elliott have organized impromptu soccer games so in-field fans can join in.  But if you’re not camping at the track, you’ll miss all of it.

THAT’s where RV Share comes into play, with an online platform that allows travellers to choose from a variety of recreational vehicles and select their most convenient pick-up and drop off locations. Some RVs are even deliverable.

The easy-to-navigate website explains the 4 easy steps to follow in order to rent an RV and the searchable filters make it easy to choose the vehicle that is right for you, including towable trailers, motorhomes and camping vans.  Each vehicle comes with its own description, including how many people the vehicle can sleep, the items included, and the price per night.  Ironically, just like a hotel, they even come with a star rating, from 1 to 5, so you know what you’re getting.

RV share has searchability down to a fine art on this website, with the ability to click on the features you most want your vehicle to include, such as air conditioning, a TV, DVD player, microwave, generator, and a rear vision camera.  Renters can even search for RVs that allow for smoking and pets.

Heading to Daytona International Speedway or Miami-Homestead? Simply click on the category marked Destinations our Renters Love, which lists popular states and categorizes the rentals by city.  California is included in this section as well if you’re planning to see the road course event at Sonoma Raceway, or the 2-mile race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

With prices as low as $58/night for a tent trailer, $89/night for a trailer that sleeps 4, and $175+ for a motorhome, there’s really no reason to have to miss race weekend and all the fun and festivities that surround it.  Of course, prices vary depending on location, the age of the vehicle and the amenities it contains, but given such a vast inventory of recreational vehicles available on RV Share, you’re bound to find a few that nicely fit your budget.  And with a quick 4-step rental process, it won’t be long till you’re among race fans at the in-field campground and awaiting the command of, “Drivers, start your engines!

Thank you for this post! I am thinking about taking an RV for camping at Watkins Glen in the summer.
